NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING(S) for
Improvements to Ford Lake, Mason County, Michigan – Practicability and
Day of Review Special Assessment Roll for Ford Lake
This meeting is open to the public.
TAKE NOTICE that the Ford Lake Improvement Board will hold a public hearing on the practicability of a five-year improvement project for Ford Lake (2024-2028). The Project will consist of nuisance aquatic plant control, plant control oversight, vegetation monitoring, administration, and contingencies and have an annual budget average of $37,547.64. The public hearings will be held on Friday, August 09, 2024 at the Sheridan Township Hall located at 6407 E. Dewey Road, Fountain, Michigan beginning at 6:00 p.m.
NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that if the project is found practicable, the Ford Lake Improvement Board will hold a hearing immediately following the aforementioned hearing of practicability for the purpose of reviewing said special assessment roll and for hearing any objections thereto. An owner of or party with interest in real property to be assessed or his/her agent may appear in person to object to the special assessment or may protest such special assessment by letter filed with the Lake Board at or prior to the time of the hearing. The owner of any real property within the Ford Lake Special Assessment District who, having made an objection to said special assessment either in person or in writing prior to the close of the hearing, may, within thirty (30) days after the confirmation of the special assessment roll, appeal such special assessment to the Michigan Tax Tribunal or other court of competent jurisdiction. Written objections may be filed with or mailed to the Ford Lake Improvement Board c/o the Mason County Drain Commissioner 102 E Fifth Street, Scottville, Michigan 49454.
NOTIVE IS ALSO GIVEN that a tentative special assessment roll has been prepared and is on file at the office of the Mason County Drain Commissioner located at 102 East Fifth Street in Scottville, Michigan for public examination during normal business hours. Said special assessment roll has been prepared for the purpose of assessing the cost of the Ford Lake improvement project, should it be found practicable, to benefiting properties generally described as all lake front parcels, backlots, and all lots with deeded or dedicated access to Ford Lake.
