Mason County Michigan

Planning Commission

The Planning Commission is responsible for creating and amending the Mason County Master Plan.  The Master Plan provides a legal basis for the Mason County Zoning Ordinance and serves as a broad policy guide for the growth and development of Mason County. The Planning Commission reviews rezoning requests, site plans, condominium developments, special use permits, and other land use applications. The Commission also develops new zoning standards and ensures that the standards of applicable local, state, and federal regulations are applied.

Submission Deadlines:  Complete Site Plans and Special Land Use applications must be received a minimum of three weeks (21 days) prior to the date of the meeting in which the application will be heard. Please contact Cayla Sanders, Zoning and Building Director, to determine application requirements and appropriate timelines for site plan completion.
